Domestic Intelligence.

WASHINGTON, December 6.

It being decided that Messrs. Jefferson and Burr have had a majority of all the suffrages of the Electors of the United States; and it being highly probable that they will have an equal number of votes; on whom will the House of Representatives, who are constitutionally empowered to decide in the event of an equal vote, confer their sanction? The choice indeed lies between two evils; but as the federal republicans are, under existing circumstances, not only empowered for the reasons aforesaid, but actually enabled by their numbers to make it, ought they not to choose the least? And if this be the case, will they not elect Col. Burr as certainly the least physical, and most probably the smallest political evil?
