Committees Appointed to Have Charge of the Drive.-Goal Here Will Be Five Thousand Dollars.
A local advisory council of the Salvation Army was formed in Columbus Wednesday night at a conference at the Chamber of Commerce offices between citizens and Salvation Army officers and leaders.
Mr. Summerfield McCartney, of Washington, D. C., field representative, was present and explained the plan of the advisory board type of organization.
Mr. I. I. Kaufman presided over the meeting which was attended by about fifty citizens and much interest was manifested in the work.
Plans were outlined for a campaign for funds to support the charity work of the army. It is planned to raise $5,000, the fund so raised to be applied to local charity needs and deposited in a local bank. The funds will be under the direction and management of the advisory committee.
The drive will be launched on Monday morning April 18.
Officers of the campaign and chairmen of the various committees compose the local advisory board.

President, Mr. B. A. Lincoln: Vice President, Mr. F. P. Phillips: Secretary, Mrs. Z. P. Landrum; Treasurer, Mr. G. Y. Banks.
Organization Committee—Mr. Ira L. Gaston, Mrs. J. T. Sanford, Miss Anna Banks, Mrs. E. T. Baird, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Pratt, Mr. E. L. Kuykendall, Mr. S. J. Loeb, Mr. I. I. Kaufman.
