Develop Valley Now
There is a time in the affairs of men if taken at their flood leads to fame and fortune, but if allowed to ebb, failure often follows.
The farmers of the upper valley, according to reports, are apparently enthusiastically in favor of securing a power line up the valley, yet through procrastination they may defeat their own aims.
Right at this time when money is seeking investment, and farmers in the middle states are seeking cheaper land in the west, is the psychological moment to put over the power project.
With world conditions so unsettled as they are at present, a turn might come any day that would result in indefinite postponement of the development.
It is realized that the farmers should exercise reasonable care in protecting themselves before bonding their land, but on a clean cut proposition like the power line it would seem that all details could have been worked out ere this.
With the experience of the Casa Grande power district detailed to the McNeal meeting Saturday night the last convincing argument in favor of the development plan seemed to have been given.
Land values in that district jumped many times the amount of the bonded indebtedness, according to the evidence presented by the Casa Grande delegation.
It has been the sincere hope of the many advocates of the development of the Sulphur Springs valley that the power line would be built this summer, so that full advantage could be taken of the nation-wide prosperity in settling up the valley.
It is not too late yet if the farmers will get together, form their power district, and vote their bonds to carry cheap power throughout the valley before the summer is over.
It is known that certain of the valley farmers are injecting other issues into the question, issues which if allowed to predominate will surely kill for the time being the successful working out of any power project.
