Chas. H. Nason's Store Entered and $200 Worth of Goods Stolen.
On Saturday night the clothing store of Chas. H. Nason, on the east side of Water street, was entered by burglars, who succeeded in rifling the money drawer containing $15 and carrying away $200 worth of goods. An entrance was effected into the cellar in the rear of the store, thence piling up boxes and climbing upon them lifted a scuttle door, crawled through on to the first floor, then ascending a flight of stairs and cutting out the catch of the lock on the door at the head of these stairs an entrance into the store proper was effected, making their escape by the same way in which they entered. Various opinions are rife as to the how or where the thieves came or went, some thinking that they came up the river in a boat, securing their plunder, then drifting quietly down the river. Others think that a team may have been secreted behind Swain's coal shed, and the goods loaded into that. However this may be, it appears quite plausible that whoever they are it must have been persons thoroughly acquainted with the premises. City Marshal White will use every effort to ferret out the villains and bring them to justice.
