A word to a considerate man is sufficient.

Who are the Leaders of the Federal Party?

Old Tories and Speculators.

Those who left us in a time of distress, and such as were actually engaged in opposing our revolution, are almost to a man leaders of the federal party.

Have true Americans become so credulous as to believe that those men now possess better principles than they then did? Think seriously of this. Those who kept themselves secure from danger and were lurking about in the time of war, taking every advantage of a distressed country, deceiving and cheating the almost starved soldiers, are now almost to a man leaders of the federal party. Is it possible for honest men to suppose that those men possess better principles now than they then did? Think seriously of this. Are those men who have made themselves rich by plundering the country in a time of distress, and by cheating the war-worn soldier, to be considered as real friends of the country, or to any individuals? I say they are not, although they are Federal leaders; yet I must acknowledge that their ill-gotten wealth gives them a great ascendency, and many are so duped by the glitter of their diamonds that they follow after them bowing and scraping, hoping, gaping and gazing, until they find themselves neglected and cheated out of their rights, then left to wallow in the mire. These things are seriously considered and re-considered by an

OLD SOLDIER.
