HIS FIRST LOVE.

I remember
Meeting you
In September,
Wasn't it?
Rather funny,
Vows we plighted:
Sixty-two.
Happy pair!
We were eating,
How delighted
Both of us:
People were!
And the meeting
Happened thus:
Accidental.
On the road
Thought it rather
Premature;
(Sentimental
Episode).
But your father
To be sure-
Was another
In the way
Strange to say:
I was gushing,
You were shy:
You were blushing-
So was I;
I was smitten,
So were you.
What a heaven
Vanished there
(You were so well,
I was ten)!
That was many
Years ago-
(All this written
Here not true);
Don't let any
Body know.
Any money?
Not a bit.
