Full Text

The French King's Speech does no little honor to its author: Besides the good style and good sense which pervade it, there is an apology for the King's late elopement, intermixed with peculiar skill and effect. The acceptation of the new Constitution by the King of France must certainly be regarded as in some measure definitive, depriving others of a pretext for interference. The alternative was either that he should accept upon the terms there granted him, or abdicate the throne. The act of oblivion just now passed in France, was certainly dictated by a wise and good policy. It will tend to soften the animosity of parties, and reconcile the minds of those who are yet averse to the Revolution. Numbers of French families, are preparing to quit London, in consequence of the adjustment of the French Constitution.
