On the 19th the Parliament according to a Custom observed a Day or two before each of the five great Festivals, held a Meeting at the Chatelet to release Prisoners detained there on slight Accounts, as their Cases appear. Though it was a Vacation Day that worthy Body preferred the Relief of the Miserable to all the Amusements of Leisure.

The Parliament having met after their Adjournment for Whitsun Week, taking Notice that every Particular of their late Proceedings, especially in Matters of Weight, were publicly known, ordered Locks to be put on the Doors of the great Hall, and the Door-keepers to wait without; so that they now lock themselves in at their general Meetings, and no Person is allowed to leave the House 'til it rises.
