SAN BENITO, Tex., March 11—
(AP)—When Manuel Cantu, Jr., who lived near Rio Hondo, was brought to a hospital at Harlingen nearly two years ago, doctors said he would not live. His body was broken after being tossed around inside a small house that turned over and over in the big storm, September 1933.
He had a broken back, two broken legs and other injuries.
For months Manuel lay in the hospital. Doctors admitted finally he would live but would never walk.
Recently Manuel was released from the hospital, six inches taller and weighing ten pounds more than when he entered.
Now he is playing football with other boys of his age.
He was the last of the storm victims to leave the hospital.
