Notwithstanding counter influences to keep the public mind otherwise largely occupied, politics are coming into their own, and there promises to be plenty of excitement and interest during the closing days of the campaign.
Among the political announcements published in this morning's News are those of Senator Massey and Congressman Roberts.
Both gentlemen were in the district yesterday, and last night Senator Massey addressed the citizens of Ely on the principles for which he stands.
Congressman Roberts did not speak, but he met a whole lot of voters here, and like Senator Massey, found sentiment strongly for him.
The fact that Congressman Roberts did not make a speech does not imply any lack of enthusiasm on his or his constituents' part. His record stands clear and he can make a report of his duties and achievements that convinces invariably that he is the one to send back to congress.
He is a live wire and a credit to Nevada.
Politics is more interesting and a study of the various issues is much more beneficial than morbid consideration of the strike situation. Why not forget the strike, so long as we cannot help conditions, and devote our attention to something else.
After all, fear is about the only thing to fear. Worry kills. Unless we can materially help the present condition of affairs, why dwell on it? There are plenty of useful things to do.
A number of political announcements appear in this morning's issue of the News and these will be commented on from time to time before election.
