Alexandria, October 11.—By capt. Dodge from Lisbon, we are verbally informed that at the time of his sailing, the two armies in Portugal were very near each other, their out posts within each others' call; but it was very doubtful whether an engagement would take place this season. If it should the fate of Portugal would be decided. The Portuguese and English were in good spirits. Provisions among the French troops extremely scarce; and desertions not unfrequent.—It was reported that a part of the French had left Cadiz to join the army in Portugal.
