Building operations during September, according to the report
filed with Mayor Ruffu by John
Conway, superintendent of the
building department, cost $242,899.
There were 230 permits issued and
925 inspections made on new and
old work.

Ten dwellings, worth $36,500,
were started. Non-residential oper-
ations numbered 11, and were
valued at $79,294. They included
six stores, $72,000; one pump
house, $5,000; one service station,
$1,400; and one office and ware-
house, $100.

Additions, alterations and re-
pairs comprised 45 residential
operations, amounting to $37,891,
and 13 non-residential jobs, at $40,
655, a total of 58 permits, involving
$78,546.

Installations included 25 oil
burners, $20,498; 17 hot-water
plants, $10,197; two steam plants,
$4,254; 10 gasoline tanks, $2,175;
and two gasfired boilers, $1,060, a
total of 56 jobs, and a cost of $38,
184.

Poster panel reconstruction work
included 76 jobs at a cost of $9,100.
There were also three building
demolitions, $1,150, and two fences,
$125.
