TRENTON, N. J., August 13.-Jim Corbett, the pugilist, who is matched to fight John L. Sullivan, made his appearance at Taylor's Opera House tonight, in Wm. Brady's play, "After Dark."

The pugilist was greeted by an audience of 2,500 persons, mostly men and youths. Corbett boxed four lively rounds with Jack McVey in the Concert Hall scene of the piece and showed up in fine form.

The audience was divided in its sympathies, and while Corbett was repeatedly cheered, numerous admirers of Sullivan made their presence felt by cat calls and by loud applause for "the champion of the world."

The bills announced that this would be Corbett's only public appearance before the fight in September.
