Miss Mar won the title of Miss International Centre to represent the district as a Seafair princess in the court of Neplyne H. The three-day festival will open with a giant parade, and is expected to be a magnet for all Seattleites as well as visitors to the city.

Free entertainment, native to each of the four participating groups will be presented on an outdoor stage each evening at Sixth Ave. and King St. Cultural exhibits will be featured along with carnival rides for children.

The Negro community is contributing its full share to the round of continuous free entertainment on the International Festival's outdoor stage this Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at Sixth Ave. S. and King St. Some of the best talent of the Filipino, Chinese and Japanese communities is on the program, said Mrs. Robert Gardner, chairman.

Leonard Gayton is chairman of arrangements for the Negro portion of the programs, with Gil Johnson headlined as master of ceremonies and tap dancer.

A talented newcomer to Seattle, Bee Smith, will be a featured singer. Myrtle Francois, who scored a hit in the first festival last year, will make a return appearance. Don Phelps, baritone, and Eric Boyce are other singers scheduled for the spotlight.

Lorraine Chatters and Ronney Height, a dance team known as the "Chatters Kids," and George Robertson, with a specialty dance called "Modern Gone Jazz," round out the Negro entertainment announced.

Traditional and modern will be blended in presentations of the other groups, including Chinese opera, the dragon dance, and the centuries-old Bon Odori religious dance of the Japanese. The latter will be a Saturday night feature at Sixth Ave. S. and Main St., where colorful street dances are on the Thursday and Friday schedules.

Special outside groups, including the Scottish Highlanders and Scandinavian dancers, are to be special guests for the street dances.
