'Tis an old and trite saying that a prophet is without honor in his own country," but he gets his bokum more and more respected the farther it gets away from home, and newspaper fellers have to take our credit for our "stuff" very much like the prophet, it comes only from afar.
Here are a couple of "honorable mentions" recently received by us:
Dr. Chalmers P. Woodruff, Kansas City.—"It affords me much pleasure to enclose my check for arrears, and for one year in advance. I can assure you we appreciate the Journal greatly, and I agree with Mrs. Woodruff's judgment when she says: 'We get more state news and political SENSE (practical) out of the Journal than from all our Kansas City papers.'"
F. H. Manter, traffic manager Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, Chicago.—"Let her come on to the end of the year. There's lots of interesting reading in your paper, and your editorials are educational and easily understood. Now, if Bro. Harding can back his crowd up, and eventually get the wheels to turning, it will mean hard times for the Democrats in Missouri for a long time to come."
