U. S. Navy Task Force Heads for the Orient

HONOLULU (AP) - The Honolulu Advertiser said today a Navy task force headed by the carrier Kearsarge left Pearl Harbor Saturday to join the U. S. 7th Fleet in the Orient.

The paper said 6,000 Marines of the 1st Marine Brigade, reported enroute to California for maneuvers, are aboard the transport Okanogan which is "holding her position" between Hawaii and California, awaiting word from the Pentagon on whether to proceed to the coast or head for the Orient.

The military in Hawaii has imposed a news blackout on all movements of men and equipment since the crisis in Laos.
