The degree of doctor of philosophy was bestowed upon Leon E. Wright in the field of history and philosophy of religion at commencement exercises Thursday at Harvard university.
Following this climax to a brilliant academic career, Dr. Wright will be ordained at the St. Mark Congregational church, Roxbury.
In the fall of this year he will assume the post of assistant professor of religion at Howard.
Dr. Wright was graduated from Boston university where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and received the master of arts degree later from the same school. After a period during which he taught Latin at Morgan State college in Baltimore, he entered Harvard and received the bachelor of theological science degree with honors.
While he was at Harvard, Dr. Wright served as assistant minister of the St. Mark Congregational church. He is treasurer of Sigma chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
