DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN.—Dedication of the Church of St. Charles Borromeo, Sydney Place, Brooklyn—This beautiful edifice, erected on the site of the old church which was burned down some time ago, was solemnly dedicated to the service of Almighty God on Sunday, 23d ult. The greatest order was observed, and the usual rites on such occasions performed with imposing solemnity, the rich full voices of the reverend clergy, trained to chant the sacred offices, filled the spacious church, and impressed with holy sentiment the listening multitude.

A Solemn High Mass was celebrated by Rev. William Keegan, assisted by Rev. Father Dealy, S. J. After the first Gospel, Bishop Loughlin ascended the pulpit, and discoursed for about an hour on the text xxviii Matt., 18, 20.
