HON. BEN CAIN AND HIS PARTY In Conference With President Green of the Midland Railway.

A party of Tyler citizens, headed by Ben Cain, is here today in conference with E. H. R. Green, president of the Texas Midland railroad, with the view of interesting the latter in the building of a line of railroad from Terrell via Canton, Van Zandt county, to Tyler. It will be recalled that a few months ago the people of Terrell and Tyler so far secured the interest of Mr. Green in this projected line of railroad that he, in company with a party of Terrell citizens and Mr. Cain of Tyler, made the trip in automobiles over the proposed route. It was a strenuous trip in more ways than one, but the big Midland president enjoyed every minute of it. At the Tyler end of the line the citizens had provided a big banquet in honor of Mr. Green and his party and loquacious Tyler orators told him in fervid English of the many advantages such a road would afford the East Texas country. Mr. Green was not called on for a speech, he having made the proviso to begin with that he would explore the route and attend the banquet if he were not called on to make a speech. However, he must have given the Tyler enthusiasts some encouragement in a quiet way, for they are still after him in an earnest effort to induce him to take hold of the proposition and build the road. Mr. Green was much impressed with the presentation of the project as made by the Tyler people today, but said that he would have to postpone a final answer to their request until after the election, when he hoped that money matters would be easier.

Tyler citizens have raised $150,000 for the construction of this road which they are ready to turn over to Mr. Green in the event he will build the road and operate it.--Dallas Times Herald.
