MANY ARMY OFFICERS
BELONG TO THE ELKS

List Includes General Pershing, the Great American Leader.

At a recent meeting of Martinsburg Lodge of Elks some interesting statistics were given out on the war activities of the Elks of the United States. Three million dollars of Liberty bonds were bought from subordinate lodge funds; three hundred thousand dollars donated to the Red Cross War Fund, one million dollars donated to other war funds; three hundred Elk Club houses turned over for use by Red Cross and other patriotic agencies; two hundred and fifty thousand food conservation pledges secured among members of the order.

More than thirty thousand members of the order are wearing the country's uniform.

The report also stated that of these active members of the order one is a general—John J. Pershing; two are major-generals, six are brigadier-generals, 80 are colonels, 400 are majors, 1600 are captains, 4700 are lieutenants, 2000 are sergeants and 500 are corporals.

In the navy one is a rear admiral, twelve are captains, four are commanders, 20 are lieutenant commanders, 100 are lieutenants and 150 are ensigns.
