Little two year old John O'Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. O'Day ate a quantity of paris green Monday morning, and his life was saved only by prompt action of his parents in hurrying the little fellow to a physician. With his parents he had gone to the home of an uncle, John O'Day, to spend part of the day. While at his uncle's home, he wandered about the house and discovered some paris green in a paper box, standing on a window within reach. Knowing nothing of the deadly character of the powder the little fellow started to play with the box and took some of its contents into his mouth and ate it. He was discovered by his parents just after eating the poison, and realizing that something must be done right away, they hurriedly hitched up a team and drove into the city at top speed, taking the boy with them. He was taken to Drs. Looze and Bellin's offices and received medical treatment. After applications of the customary antidote, the boy began to improve and to-day, Tuesday, he is out of danger, though very weak and ill yet, from the effects of the poison. This is the second time within two months that a little one has nearly met death through the carelessness of persons in taking care of poisonous matter that may be about the place. Too much care cannot be taken in handling this class of material.
