Rommel's Forces Strike 6 Points
(Continued from Page One)
that the offensive will keep up within the limits of Allied airpower provided bad weather does not interfere. There also is little doubt that the effect soon will be felt by the Germans as they encounter increasing difficulty in repairing and replacing submarines now operating in the Atlantic.
The air war was accompanied by a dying down in the tempo of the action on land fronts. The Russian army's progress has been only gradual in the last week and it is obvious that the Red army has been forced to pause for regrouping and to bring up supplies after the long advances which stretched communication lines.
OTHER INDICATIONS
There also are indications that the Germans are throwing in additional fresh troops and already have started counterattacks in the Donets region in an effort to stabilize the front and possibly halt the Russians short of the Dnieper river line.
There are increasing signs that the Germans are worried about the problem of manpower, and there have been recent reports that the Reich's army and navy leaders have held conferences regarding production and supply problems.
