Grand Jury Named for October Term.

Circuit court takes up first cases of heavy docket this morning.

Several are continued.

Trials of Jabe Wade, charged with murder and assault, set for October 21.

The grand jury for the October term of the Boone County Circuit Court was selected this morning and work on the docket was begun.

Many cases on docket for the first day were continued by consent, and other cases which were set for the first day were postponed.

In his charge to the grand jury, David H. Harris, circuit judge, called the attention of the jury to some of the laws and said that the offenders should be prosecuted. He called especial attention to the sale of liquor and charged the jury to make every effort possible to find bills for this offense.

The case of Jabe Wade, charged with murder in the first degree was reset for Monday, October 21, with the understanding that the jury be selected before October 23, on which day the examining of the witnesses could begin.

Along with this case, which is one of the most important cases on docket for this term, that of John Spenie, Harve Wade and Jabe Wade, charged with assault with intent to kill will come up and require the same witnesses. There will be forty witnesses. In all of these cases the formal arraignment was waived and a plea of not guilty was entered.

Jabe Wade had his bond in his second case, assault with intent to kill, fixed by Judge David H. Harris at $1,000. The attorneys in the cases are Anderson and Sapp for the state; Don C. Carter and Harris and Finley for the defendants.

The grand jury which went into session today consisted of L. F. Swinney, foreman; Luther Crump, W. F. Robinson, W. E. Murry, J. S. Donohue, E. F. Martin, F. L. Johnson, I. C. Hockaday, Ben Nowell, Paul Henderson, G. W. Turner, and Gentry Clark.
