The California Epidemic has extended to Canada. The Montreal Courier of the 21st ult., commences a paragraph with these words—“We hear that many of our citizens are on the point of rushing to California;” and then proceeds to give some directions about the best method of getting there.

It is stated that great numbers of half and quarter eagles, made from California gold, are already in circulation in New York.

To California Settlers.—It has been suggested by a wag that it would be well for some of those who talk of making a settlement in California, to make a settlement at home, before they go!

More Emigrants for California.—Several young men from New York, bound for California, arrived at this place on Monday last. They will proceed with the first company that leaves here in April next.

A California Packet.—The Dispatch, a fine little boat, built for the transportation of California emigrants up the Arkansas and Canadian rivers, arrived at our port, during the week. She draws only eleven inches water; and can go to the falls of the Canadian at all stages; and during high water, can go within 200 miles of Santa Fe, making the shortest land route to that province.

Several of the California Emigrants from this County will take their families. We learn also that several families will also accompany the party from Johnson county.

Emigrants to California on the Ohio River!
Companies and others at Cincinnati and Louisville, preparing to make the overland trip to California, via the Arkansas route, are informed that arrangements have been made with the fine light draught steamer Alert, No. 2, to ply between the Ohio river and the Arkansas, until all the parties have left here during next summer. The Alert left this port on last Tuesday for Cincinnati, on her first trip, and will leave that port in good time, take up California emigrants at all intermediate points; and bring them to Van Buren before the first party leaves in April.

We would advise all persons coming from the cities on the Ohio, who intend to go with wagons, to procure them there. The mechanics here and at Fort Smith will be unable to furnish the demands for wagons.
