Corunna, Dec. 30.

Don Antonio de Alcedo has issued a proclamation, informing the inhabitants that he has been appointed commander of the militia of honor of this place, and announcing his determination to fortify the approaches to the town.

He concludes in these terms: 'being thus well prepared, I trust in God that he will protect our cause; and if the French do come, I shall take such measures that Corunna shall, in the history of the present war, be distinguished in a manner not less glorious than Gerona, Valencia and Saragossa: & if fortune should prove adverse to us, as a chastisement from God for our sins. I will bury myself in the ruins of this fortress, rather than surrender it to the French. thus finishing my days with glory & honor! and trusting that all will follow my example!'
