Cadiz, Jan. 10. The bad weather which we have had for these six weeks has caused infinite damage, and especially shipwreck in different parts of the coast. Among the ships lost or cast on shore, are a Spanish polacre, La Notre Dame de Montferrat, from Montevideo, with 12,000 skins and 37,000 piastres; 2 Swedish ships, an English ship bound for London from Gibraltar, with goods and provisions; the crew of this last consisted of 32 persons, and 15 officers of the garrison, all of whom perished excepting four or five men. A Danish ship was lost also between Conil and Petri, but the crew were saved. By a master of a ship from Henelva, we hear, that two Algerine corsairs were wrecked on the Portuguese coast, the one near Faro, and the other near Villa Real, but the crews were saved. There are also many other shipwrecks in the bays of Algeciras and Gibraltar, occasioned by the storm on the 2d and 3d of this month. Four ships were cast on shore under the fortifications of Gibraltar, but there are hopes to get them off again. The Amiable Desire, a French brigantine, which left Bayonne the 24th of last month, with corn for Cadiz, was lost on the 7th of this month near Fort St. Sebastian. One seaman only was saved, and a cabin boy. The body of the captain was found near the wreck, and near him a girdle, containing 480 piastres, which are supposed to belong to him.
