Dec. 2. Yesterday in the evening the ceremony of christening the young princess was performed in the great council chamber, by his Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Her Royal Highness was named Sophia.

The sponsors were, his serene Highness Prince Augustus of Saxe-Gotha, represented by the Earl of Hertford, Lord Chamberlain of his Majesty's household; her Serene Highness the Duchess of Brunswick, represented by the Countess of Hertford; and her Serene Highness the Duchess of Mecklenburg Schwerin, represented by the Dowager Countess of Effingham.
