MISCELLANEOUS REPOSITORY.

For the N. H. Gazette.

To the memory of F. M. SEWALL, Esq.

Departed bard! my long neglected lyre,
The thoughts of thy poetic flights inspires;
Again I try the melancholy lays,
And add one rustic wreath, to tell thy praise.

Let Europe boast her Pope and Milton's fire,
That awe and wonder, and delight inspire;
Yet, sure thy Ossian, from what we can see,
Deserves a fadeless wreath, bestowed on thee;
And those exalted lines, to virtue due,
Unhappy Trenck! shall bring thy worth to view;
Thy vast heroic fortitude display!
And make thee deathless as the poet's lay.
