When Jailer Loftin went to feed the prisoners in the jail at Tulia, Swisher county, a few days since, he, as usual, turned them from the run-around into the cells, and seeing several of them go to the cells thought all had obeyed order. Bud Hill had hid himself in a cell which was not locked, and when Loftin was arranging dinner Hill struck him on the back of the head with a stick which the prisoners were using for stirring the fire.
