Full Text

The Whig quotes a few lines of pine-woods wit from the Liberty Advocate, and winds up with an anticipation of the reply the Republican will make to it. It says, "Judging from the Republican's bearing towards us, the retort, if at all, will be indignant or dirty."

Until we know who "us" is, that has been dealing out his wholesale and unfounded charges against the Republican, and the democratic party-and until "us," shews that he does not, from the nature of matters, merit "indignant or dirty." retorts, we shall not regard him with too much reverence. If he does not desire to be thus retorted upon, he should shew more decency and respect for himself, and for those against whom he writes.
