The Springfield Gazette states that last week a little girl about seven years old, being with a group of children, was attacked by a dog having every symptom of hydrophobia, thrown down and badly bitten on the right arm. The limb was immediately amputated above the wound. The dog was killed—but had previously bitten besides this little girl a negro boy in his finger, also several dogs, a cow, and a number of sheep. The finger of the boy was immediately amputated.— The dog had fled from Suffield. Ct. the Selectmen of which town offered a bounty of $2 for every dog which should be killed.
