LOSS OF IRLES ADMITTED

Part of Retirement Plan to Ancre, as Says Berlin.

London, March 11:-Germany admits the loss of Irles, on the Ancre, to the British yesterday. An official statement today says that it was all a part of the German plan to retirement on the Ancre.

This report is contradicted, however, with the official announcement from the London War Office tonight that the British made prisoners of three officers and 289 men in the attack, besides capturing the large store of trench guns announced yesterday.

In the German retirement which ended a few days ago no such captures were made.

The German official bulletin tonight says that new bombardments began on the Ancre, presaging perhaps new British assaults, but this is not mentioned by the War Office.

Fighting has continued on the French front in Champagne, in which apparently little change occurred.

The Germans say they still hold Hill 185, the most important point in the sector south of Ripont.
