Jackson Monument.—It is stated that the Jackson Monument Committee of Washington city, have determined to erect the Monument on a beautiful spot of ground north of and immediately fronting the President's House. The design to be after that of Peter the Great. The foundation to consist of one solid block of rough stone, estimated to weigh one thousand tons. This can be procured in the vicinity, and placed in position for $15,000. Congress is to be applied to for the old cannon taken during the present war, of which to make the bronze for the statue. The enormous foundation stone is to be laid on the 15th of March next—the anniversary of Jackson's birth day.
