ANOTHER HOME BREWER GONE TO HIS REWARD.

New York, Feb. 23.--An unidentified man, apparently about 35 years old, was found dead at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon in a room in which there was a 75-gallon still on the ground floor of a four-story double tenement house, 136 Columbia Street, Brooklyn. The man, who was badly burned about the body, had died from inhaling vapor from the tanks connected with the still, according to Dr. Thompson, of the Long Island College Hospital. The burns are believed to have been caused when the alcohol fumes in the room became ignited. The still did not explode. Antonio Durango, who has a grocery store in the front part of the building, told the police that he heard moans and groans in the rear apartment and receiving no response to repeated knocks, he broke open the door. He found the man lying on the floor. The police of the Butler Street Station were summoned. Besides the still the police found in the room with the dead man all the utensils required in making moonshine whiskey. They also found fifteen five gallon cans of alcohol, five gallons of wine, four demijohns containing a brown liquor, which the police said was whiskey; three large bags of sugar, one barrel of coloring matter and twenty-five or thirty empty bottles. In the adjoining room were eight barrels of mash. The police found that the one window of the room in which the body was found had been boarded up, probably to prevent the fumes from escaping through the building. The lack of proper ventilation is thought to have caused the room to become surcharged with the alcoholic fumes.
