Full Text

Hon. John A. Kasson.

We met this gentleman on the cars, Monday evening, returning from Des Moines to Washington. He looks somewhat thin and care-worn - the result, doubtless of his arduous duties as First Assistant Postmaster General. Mr. K. has the hardest working post at Washington. We learn that until the war excitement occasioned him some relief from the press of office-seekers, he seldom had an opportunity to eat but one meal a day, being confined from breakfast till bed time in his office. He has discharged the perplexing duties of his office satisfactorily to everybody, as far as we can ascertain.
