BATTLE OF BALLOTS ON TUESDAY
The national election takes place next Tuesday. It will indeed be a battle of ballots. There will be recorded a larger number of votes than at any other period of American history. More people have been touched during this campaign than ever before. Both candidates have traveled extensively in all parts of the country, visiting places where such candidates never went before. Aside from the personal travel, the radio carried their voices to the more remote places of the country, arousing the voters as never before. These voters are well informed, not counting the many thousands that are on relief and in the employ of the government in all of the states. These are doing their turn in arousing interest.
The prediction is that the contest will be a close one. At the beginning of the campaign it was thought that President Roosevelt would have an easy task and be overwhelmingly re-elected. The vigorousness of the Republicans and the aggressive fight of Governor Landon have tended to hearten the members of the party and they are buoyed with the thought that victory will perch upon their banner next Tuesday. Four years ago thousands of Republicans in every State supported the Democrats. Most of them are returning to the fold and will show their loyalty at the polls. It is stated what were it not for the CWA workers, who feel duty bound to support the Democrats, the Republicans would be easily successful.
