Extract of a Letter from a respectable gentleman residing in New-Milford.
"The Post-Master Reformed out of office in this place was Philo Noble, a Cabinet-maker, an honest man and faithful officer, who had for more than 20 years discharged the duties of his office well, and having but little property, the emoluments of the office, though not large, were of importance to him and his family. His only fault was the holding the peaceful tenor of his way, and not turning aside to worship the new idol. As his successor never intermeddles with the business of the mail, his only object, in seeking the office, seems to have been the enjoyment of its privileges in regard to franking or personal and political purposes,"
