"Y" At Corner Of Farish And Monument Street Is Scene Of Many Youth Saving Activities
JACKSON, Miss., March 27-
Join the YMCA-Now is the slogan of a corps of enthusiastic workers as the annual membership drive of the Farish Street Branch YMCA got under way this week under the direction of C. F. Edwards, well known young Businessman, "Y" enthusiast. and civic leader as General Chairman of the membership Campaign, with goal of 3000 members for the YMCA this year.
The goal of 3000 members for the YMCA this year is primarily directed to older boys and men, and the parents of younger boys who can pay the minimum membership of $1.00 per year.
Mr. C. F. Edwards, General Chairman, in a statement directed to the attention of the Negro citizens of Jackson, says, "The genius of the YMCA lies in fellowship. Such fellowships arises from the needs of boys and young men, as well as men and women generally for attention, showed effort. affection; response, and recognition." We are now in the midst of our Annual Membership Campaign, says the General Chairman, to bring into the YMCA persons who feel a definite responsibility for our boys and young men in helping them develop a Christian personality and build the basis upon which effective citizenship will be achieved. He said, "We urge you to join with us in our effort to secure the largest possible number of members during the period-March 27th to April 9th. Let us focus our attention with a new look on youth."
The Farish Street Branch YMCA, located at the corner of Farish and Monument street, is the scene of many character building and youth saving activities: in which all members are entitled to take part.
