Assassinations.—The New Orleans Picayune of the 4th inst. says:—“We received verbal information last evening to the effect that young Frank Coombs, of Kentucky, had been shot by one of his neighbors, named O'Blanis. There had been a misunderstanding between them of some kind, and O'Blanis, on seeing Coombs riding out on horseback, armed himself and laid in wait for him on his return. On seeing him advance, O'B. told him that he was prepared, when Coombs dismounted from his horse; but before he could draw a pistol he received both charges from a double-barrelled gun directly in his head, and died immediately. Such is the amount of the information we have received of this truly unfortunate affair. Coombs, it may be recollected, was one of the Santa Fe expedition." O'Blanis was arrested two days after the murder.
