Outrage Upon A Minister - Rev. D. A. Long, pastor of Antioch Church, Christian denomination, while returning from a visit to one of his members one night last week, when near the church, was seized by some unknown persons and subjected to as heinous an outrage as was ever committed in this county. Mr. Long reports that he was stopped by two men in disguise, who pulled him from his horse, stripped his clothing from him, and then cut him severely in several places with a whip or stout switch. They then robbed him of his watch and money, and left him lying in the cold. His cries attracted the attention of the neighbors, and it was but a short time till assistance reached him. Gentlemen who have seen the cuts on Mr. Long's person say they have more the appearance of having been done with a knife or some other sharp instrument than with a whip or switch—There are several rumors and suspicions afloat concerning the parties guilty of this cowardly assault, but we refrain at present from giving any of them, either for or against the gentleman most interested.—Harrisonburg Enterprise.
