Pleading guilty to a charge of having operated a passenger motor vehicle minus front tires on a public highway, Arthur Dechand of North Ashford, erstwhile Eastford constable, was fined $25 by Justice Edward A. Trepal in Eastford Town Court last week.
While responsibility was not determined officially, it appeared the car bore prominently on sides and doors an inscription indicating some sort of affiliation with a deer hunting club.
At the same court session he was arraigned on a charge of allowing a bull of more than 12 months old to roam at large. He entered a not guilty plea, but was found guilty by Justice Trepal and fined $5.
It was stated the aforesaid bull had mingled with prize dairy herds in the Eastford area, his subsequent conduct being such as aroused the wrath of the cattle owners.
Complaints were registered at the Danielson State Police Barracks, from which Trooper Charles Heckler hied forth to find out what all the turmoil was about. He batted 200 per cent in the quest, not only making the bull charge stick in court, but discovering the semi-tireless and inscribed motor vehicle.
