SMITH PREPARES TO DRILL TEST ON BENTON

C. L. Smith, leading operator in Devon field, returned to Montana from Denver last week, bringing with him Jack Smith, veteran north Montana driller who is taking over operation of Smith's well at Devon.

Smith has leased up a block of 10,000 acres on Benton Lake structure and proposes to drill a test on a location made by C. D. Johnson, well known Denver geologist, on SW1/4 SW1/4 14-22-2E. A rig is now on location.

This location is southwest of wells formerly drilled on this structure, all of which have had showings of oil.
