MARION, Ind., Aug. 21.-To-day's session of the Methodist Protestant Conference, at Jonesboro, was given over to the considering of overtures handed down from the General Conference. The first overture was the most important, as its adoption makes women eligible to the order of elders in the church. Discussion waxed warm, Revs. W. W. Bundy, of Lancaster, and O. Louther opposing the resolution, which was adopted, however, by a large majority. This overture when adopted by two-thirds of all the conferences in the United States becomes a law of the General Conference.
