ALIENS, DEPORTATION LAWS AND LABOR TROUBLES

The day's mail brings two separate enclosures, each independent of the other, and yet each closely related to the other. One is a copy from the Congressional Record of a speech by Rep. Joe Starnes in the house of representatives. The other is a copy of a letter sent to Secretary of State Cordell Hull by Colonel Walter E. Garrison, president of the Associated Farmers of California.

Rep. Starnes spoke of pending deportation bills. Col. Garrison wrote of Mexican consular activities in the recent Orange county harvest strike. Basically, each deals with the nation's alien problems.
