HERALD OFFICE, Norfolk, December 1.

Last evening arrived in town, under a guard of Princess-Anne Militia, four British prisoners, consisting of the master's mate and three seamen of the Aegeon brig of war, who came ashore to the southward of Cape Henry, on Monday last. They state, that they were left in charge of the schooner Poor Jack of Snow Hill, which the Aegeon had captured in Mobjack bay, and taken out the cargo (200 barrels of flour.) While at anchor with the squadron in Lynnhaven bay, on Sunday night, it coming on to blow very hard, the schooner parted cables and drove out to sea; the next morning, she sprang a leak, and being unable to fetch into the Capes, the crew, to preserve their lives, abandoned her & came ashore. Soon after, the vessel foundered.

The cartel sloop President, Grey, which was sent down to the squadron on Monday, to deliver the prisoners taken last Summer on this station, returned this morning with 45 American captains and seamen, which the enemy had captured in different coasting vessels in the bay. The militia and troopers taken at the Pleasure House, were sent to Bermuda some time ago. The Dragon, Lacedaemonian and Armide, are the only ships in the bay; the brigs Aegeon and Sophie are on another expedition up the bay. Five sloops and schooners prizes are at anchor with the squadron, and will shortly proceed to Bermuda, under convoy of one of the brigs.

From conversation with the British officers on board the Dragon, the prisoners inform us, that an universal prejudice prevails in the fleet against Admiral Warren, who is represented as a man of no enterprise nor vigor; but who, on the contrary, is too much actuated by benevolent and friendly feeling for the Americans !! to study the interests of his followers; who, by such misplaced humanity, and natural imbecility, have been disappointed in making their fortunes ! by the plunder of our Villages and Farms. "But next spring," say they, more troops and better commanders will be sent out from England; and then, we may count upon doing something handsome for ourselves.
