The Herald-New York

(From our Evening Edition of Saturday.)

Farewell, Bennaut! but remember:
This is but a lair dream
Be prepared, we'll not surrender
All by chains ye have on you
What! leave us all so unprotected
When Locofoco's swarm around?
And yet more vagabonds expected,
Where can a champion now be found?
Sir, believe me, Albion's daughters
Need no foreign gallant swain,
See haughty knights with stars and garters
Are found enlisted in their train.
Then let thy services be rendered,
With true philanthropic address,
Where heart-felt gratitude is tendered,
For all thy gallant carefulness.
Then when the Sirius makes a motion
To raise her steam for Freedom's land,
When next she boldly wades the Ocean,
Be thou among her jolly band.
Again she thunders in our harbor,
Again our hearty welcomes swell,
Again we meet with mutual ardor,
Only till then, we say Farewell!

MARY.
