On Saturday Night the 28th of August---At Barrington the House of Mr Benjamin Drowne was struck with Lightning and much damaged.--The Lightning struck the Ridge of the House, ran down the Gable End, tearing off the Plank and Clapboards, and entered the House by two Spikes that supported a Gun, tore the Gun-Stock to pieces, forced out a Window, with the Frame, and shivered a Bed-Post; but happily a Person that lay on the Bed received no Injury. The Plank and Clapboards were thrown six Rods, and some Splinters were stuck fast into the Chimney-Piece, others into a Fence at a considerable Distance from the House. Mr. Drowne had his Face hurt by a Splinter, and was rendered insensible by the Shock, but soon recovered.

About a Quarter of a Mile from the above, and nearly about the same Time, a Barn belonging to Capt. John Martin, of Barrington, was likewise struck: one of the Rafters was split, and a Number of Boards torn off. A very large Oak Tree, about 20 Yards from said Barn, was destroyed; several other Trees were struck, and a Stack of Hay Burnt, belonging to Major Samuel Allen.

The Lightning struck six or eight Times in the Town of Barrington, and at Palmer's River, we are told some Damage was likewise done.
