It was also resolved, in that assembly, that the letters from the New-York convention, be referred, to the people, recommending to them to empower their deputies to appoint delegates to meet those which might be appointed by the state of New-York, or other states, to consider and determine the proposed amendments to the constitution of the United States of America.
It is conjectured, says a correspondent, that the mode, about to be adopted by several legislatures, of dividing the states into districts, for the appointment of the federal representatives, will create disturbances, for, as many, if each district elects its member, he will not be the choice of the people, but of a partial district only, &c. Privilege at elections, continues our correspondent, was ever guarded with jealousy by Americans.
