SCOUT CIRCUS BIG SUCCESS

MAMMOTH TWO-DAY AFFAIR IN STATE FAIR COLISEUM DRAWS PRAISE FROM THOUSANDS OF VISITORS

MADISON COUNTY SCOUTS TAKE PART IN VARIOUS STUNTS, ACTIVITIES-WIN HIGH PRAISE

Scouts in Madison county made a splendid showing at the mammoth Scout circus, held in Columbus Friday and Saturday evenings, April 21 and 22, at the State Fair coliseum

From the opening sound of the bugles to the closing time of "The Star Spangled Banner" the circus was a panorama of Scout activities and handicraft.

Many persons interested in scouting from Madison county attended the circus and many were amazed at the splendid discipline and trained manner in which the Scouts carried through their program.

With colors in the lead the grand entry of 5,000 Scouts, four abreast from all points of Central Ohio, the audience was held spell-bound as the circling columns marched within the arena at the coliseum.

In rapid succession the following events were enacted in the circus: flag raising, grand entry; lassoing, rope twirling, whip cracking, a pageant "Scouting Serves the Nation," investiture ceremony on Friday night and court of honor Saturday night, camping scene; sea scouting act; first aid act; camping act; great clown act; Scouts on a tour, games, obstacle races, special knot tying, wood chopping, Scout drills; bicycle drill, flying of miniature airplanes and a pioneering act.

Part in the parade each night with floats, Troop 104 leading the parade.

At the investiture service on Friday night, Attorney General John W. Bricker, formerly of Mt. Sterling presided.

This was one of the most successful Scout circuses ever held in the Central Ohio area and the troops in Madison county made a fine appearance in their parts.
