New York Baseball Club's Great Achievement—The Trophy:
New York, Oct. 30.—The last game of a series of ten between the St. Louis Baseball club, the "Browns," and the New York Baseball club, the "Giants," was played in St. Louis on Saturday. These two clubs had proved themselves, by their season's playing, to be the best teams in the American association and the National league, respectively, and the series of ten games was to decide the championship of the world.
THE TROPHY.
When the series was little more than half over it was evident that the New York boys were too strong for their western opponents. The world's championship was formally awarded to them on Sunday. The struggle was one of the most exciting on record, and splendid playing was done by both clubs.
The trophy is a superb silver cup, a product of Tiffany's. It weighs 106½ ounces, is mounted upon a base of polished ebony, and is covered with a series of exquisite etchings.
